If you're having a conversation with sensitive matter, these radios offer a voice scramble feature that prevents outside monitoring. And for added safety, the radios receive emergency and weather broadcasts from the NOAA National Weather Service. When in Emergency/Weather mode, the radios monitor the selected emergency/weather channel for alerts, even when you're not actively communicating.
