DESC: This theme-based CD-ROM enables students of all abilities to actively research a multitude of different forest ecosystems in addition to many national parks. Students visit the Appalachian Mountains in a 360* panorama filled with animation, video and information hot spots. A multimedia, on-screen journal allows students to chronicle their investigation by writing thoughts and observations, capturing photographs and images, and collecting data. Interactive reference books at the Visitor's Center provide students with opportunities to extend their explorations to create research projects. A fun trivia game and a palette of investigation activities makes this program an excellent choice for intermediate students to learn about the natural, cultural and social worlds of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
