DESC: Mike Schmidt was the NL's premier power hitter in the 1970s and 1980s, failing to hit 30 home runs only three times in his 16 year career. Schmidt won the National League home run crown a record eight times, and received the Most Valuable Player Award in 1980-81, 86. Schmidt is currently seventh on the all-time home run list. He won eleven Gold Gloves during his career and was named an All-Star in 1974, 76-77, 79-84, 86,87, and 89. Mike was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995.
