DESC: SIDESHOW takes a look at the last 100 years of the timeless tradition of parading human oddities in traveling circuses/carnivals. While the ethics of the situation may be a bit dubious, it's obvious that "human freaks" are an attraction few will pass up the chance to see. Witness, for instance, the Great Waldo, the man who swallows mice whole and then spits them back up, slightly stunned. This documentary highlights some legendary performers such as Percilla the Monkey Woman, the oldest living Siamese twins, the Half Woman, and more. The interviews with these freaks are nothing short of astonishing, and there is plenty of footage from the "golden age" of freak shows. We also get a look at how freak shows are surviving today, and get to see some of the last traveling sideshows as well as some nightclub performances of a new generation of freaks and esoteric performance artists.
