DESC: EXPLORING NUMERICAL METHODS: AN INTRODUCTION TO SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING stresses insight and hands-on experience, with each chapter providing an exploration section with problems that deal with the very practical issues of software evaluation, selection, modification, and the solution of not entirely open-ended problems. Students will conduct investigations using their own methodology, and are expected to write informative reports on their observations and conclusions.
