DESC: Based on characters created by Masumi Yuuki, PATLABOR: THE MOBILE POLICE remains one of the premier mecha anime television series. Sometime in the future, the city of Tokyo is threatened by lawlessness perpetrated by criminal elements in control of Labors, all-purpose giant robots built to perform industrial work. To combat the robotic menace, the Tokyo police create Special Vehicle units and endow them with newly modified Labors to investigate possible criminal behavior around Tokyo Bay. The series follows the crime-fighting efforts of one particular police unit--Special Vehicles, Section 2--through the wacky adventures of new recruit Noa Izumi, a fresh-faced young pilot who ends up falling in love with her own Labor, Alphonse. Offering equal parts action, comedy, drama, sci-fi, and policier, the anime concludes with this collection that combines volumes 5-8.
