DESC: The tide of World War II began to change as the German Panzers began to run into Allied tanks that were more than able to counter the Nazi attacks. In North Africa the British Matilda II tanks under the command of Gen. Montgomery pushed the Germans under Rommel back, while in Russia the Germans were faced with a counterattack of over 500 Russian T-34 tanks at Stalingrad. Later the combined strength of the Russian T-54 and American forces under Gen. Patton were able to crush the Nazi war machine.
